Prof. Dr. DORA HRISTOVA
Artistic director and conductor of the Bulgarian Female Vocal Choir “Le Mystere des Voix Bulgares”, Associated Professor at the Academy of  Music, Dance and Fine Arts – Plovdiv, Bulgaria

Prof. Dr. DORA HRISTOVA is a graduate of the Bulgarian State Conservatoire. She got her conductor’s grade in 1971 with “Requiem-Mozart” and  immediately distinguished herself by her distinct artistic talent. Due to hard purposeful work, strong determination, profound pedagogic and research activity, delicate psychological approach and firmness of her artistic gifts, Prof. Dr Hristova made a brilliant carrier of the conductor of the Female Vocal Choir “Le Mystere des Voix Bulgares”. She raises the folk village song to the heights of a modern work of art, sound and interpretation. Her master’s artistic achievements are vivid also in her 15 compositions and arrangements for classical and folksong choirs.

In 1985 Dora Hristova took her Doctor’s degree for “Problems of Interpretation in Contemporary Bulgarian Choral Music”. She experiments in the fields of sonority and different vocal ensemble sounding. She was nominated twice by the American National Academy of Recording Art & Science a GRAMMY award and received the award as the conductor of the most pieces on the awarded Cellier’s CD “Le Mystere des Voix Bulgares”-Volume II and also had a second nomination for“Rituals” in 1994.Her international success includes over 900 concerts in the world’s most prestigious halls like “The Royal Festival Hall” and “The Barbican Centre” in London,’
“Avery Fisher Hall” in Lincoln Center /New York/, “Kenedy Center” /Washington/, “Boston Symphony Hall”, “Chicago Symphony Hall”, “Concertgebouw” /Amsterdam/, “Vredenburg”/Utrecht/ and many others in North and South America, Europe, Asia. It is the result of the highest professional level of her talented work of a conductor and a pedagogue in “Le Mystere des Voix Bulgares” Female Vocal Choir, the result of her classical training background and 13 years of practice as the choir-master of the Bulgarian Radio and TV Mixed Choir when she covered rich repertoire of medieval, classical, romantic, post-romantic and contemporary world music. In Bulgaria Prof. Dr. Dora Hristova was awarded with “Cyril & Methodius”order, “The Crystal Lyre” award , many diploms, etc.

“Le Mystere des Voix Bulgares” Female Vocal Choir is an Honorary member of the World  Movement “Ecoforum for Peace” designated by the United Nations Organization  as an honorary “Peace Messenger”. Prof. Dr. Dora Hristova is a Member of its Board and is in charge of the Ecology of culture and spiritual life.
