LE MYSTERE DES VOIX BULGARES

General “Le Mystere des Voix Bulgares” is a famous Bulgarian folk choir with conductor Ass.Prof Dora Hristova. Its records Volume II won “Grammy” award in 1990, ‘”Rituals” was nominated for “Grammy” in 1994. Album Volume IV on Polygram label was released in the autumn of 1998 and “The Best of LMDVB” in 1999 by “Universal”.

Personnel The choir consists of 23 women vocalists, one (or two) male soloist(s) plus 5 men musicians (optional), conductor Prof. Dr. Dora Hristova and manager Mrs. Kalina Barova.

Travel The Presenter organizes the travel of the choir. He covers the expenses for visa (if applicable), plane, train, bus transportation from/to Sofia, takes care of medical insurance (if applicable), transfer airport-hotel-venue and back.

Lodging The Presenter provides lodging for the choir.
The following accommodation is required:
-  an adequate three star hotel that serves continental breakfast .
-  single rooms – for conductor, manager,  the male soloist (if applicable).
-  the rest are  doubles (two bed rooms) .
The hotel must be located within a reasonable distance to the concert hall (not more than 1-2 hours drive from the venue).
If musicians travel wit the group we ask for extra two double and one single room.

Promotion work Normal concert tour schedule does not exceed 4 successive concerts. Travel on days of performance is not to exceed 4 hours. Promotion work and other appearances should be limited to not more than 3 hours on a concert day. The choir needs at least three hours rest before arriving at the venue.

Appearance Normal performance consists of two parts of 40-45 minutes each with 15-20 min intermission. In the first part the singers appear in colorful costumes with national embroidery and in the second part they wear more formal colored dresses.
In most cases when the choir performs in concert halls or in churches no PA is used.
The choir forms a semi circle on stage with a diameter of 10 m in one line. The conductor stands in the middle. There are no special stage requirements but a piano (or a keyboard) which is needed on stage right only  for setting the tone. The choir needs also 11 chairs on each side of the stage not seen by the audience. Stage must be well lit. Normal white light is basic. The direction of the focusing must be such as to cover the vocalists from head to toe. Two spot lights and a light operator must be available to work with the soloists. Light effects are possible in part two only as in the first part they can mix and spoil the colors of the costumes.
Access to the performance stage on the day of concert should be provided for the manager. The choir needs to be at the venue an hour and a half before the concert. The choir needs 30-45 min warm-up time on stage before door opening.
Parking space for the coach is required as close as possible to the artist entrance.
Dressing facilities for 24 singers and a separate room for the conductor are needed. One musician room (if applicable) at some distance from the stage might be needed.

Catering during performance Mineral water (plain, not cold, not aerated), coffee, tea, fruit juice, assorted fruits, backstage catering.
